Come down to the beach on March 6th at 10am to show your support and unity for residents who are working hard to bring awareness to protecting our beach, sand dunes and wildlife.
Dear Boca Watch,
A group of concerned Boca residents, along with the Ocean Club, are working together to stop the development at 2500 N. Ocean Blvd. As you may know, this area is known for protecting sea turtles by enforcing a ‘no street light’ policy. The plans of a developer to build a 10,000 sq. foot glass house, four to five stories high, will endanger the sea turtles as well as birds and protected sea grasses and plants. There are also valid concerns over future developments on the beach north and south of this location if these plans come to fruition.
We are having a demonstration on the beach at 2400 N. Ocean Blvd. on Sunday, March 6, starting at 10:00 a.m.
This event will center around this proposed development and the threat it poses to the marine ecosystem and wildlife species dependent upon beach and dune habitats. We would like demonstrators to go to the Spanish River entrance or the 2400 Ocean Club beach access and they will be directed from there as to where they need to go.
Because the City of Boca Raton and its Council members have failed to ensure long-term protection of our community’s beach and dune environment, we will be lining up at 12:00 p.m. with a symbolic gesture of hands across the sands. The more people at this event to line up, the more powerful the image will be of citizens protecting the beach!!
With regard to the petition we have in place, we have over 350 signatures on line as well as over 750 hard signatures. Would you help us get the word out to friends of BocaWatch.org by directing them to the bocasob.com site to sign the petition on line. Like us on Facebook.
Thank you so much for your help.
Jody Donne, Concerned Resident
